The Billiken's Bluff

I saw Closer and had many of the same problems with it that I with Richard Linklater's film, Tape. A lot of theater simply doesn't work when translated into a film. A play works well if the entire plot unfolds in a single room, but when this is the case in a movie it feels claustrophobic. Closer did not limit itself to a motel room, so it wasn’t quite as awful as Tape.

Anyway, the only reason for going to see this movie, or for me posting this right now is to see Natalie Portman.



She plays a stripper from New York looking for love in all the wrong places, a.k.a, London.
