Dean

Every time Howard Dean says something outlandishly brainless, I think to myself, "Well that just might be outrageous enough to post on Billiken." I never do, of course. This is because A) I'm lazy, B) Everyone already knows that NDot thinks Dean is out of his tree, and C) Most people agree with me.

But if you anyone can help me, I could really use a reminder - why is this guy the head of the DNC again?

Let's review, ever so briefly. Aside from calling Republicans "corrupt," "brain-dead," and "liars," Dean also simplified things for everybody by just asserting that Republicans were in fact "evil." Interesting.

I like this one. After having made the idiotic political mistake of defending Osama bin Laden seemingly on principle by saying that he should not be "pre-judged," but rather considered innocent until proven guilty, Howard Dean declared recently that Tom Delay "ought to go back to Houston where he can serve his jail sentence down there courtesy of the Texas taxpayers." Fair enough. Wait - no its not.

Also fascinating, Dean explained that "most Republicans have never made an honest living in their lives." Like Harry Reid, who deftly explained to a classroom of high school students that the President a "loser," Dean backtracked on this one. Pussing out, he later said he meant Republican "leaders," not the millions of Americans who identify themselves as Republicans. Oops - the man in charge of expanding his party almost claimed that over half the country's voters were criminals there. Nice save!

You can watch his latest comments here, where he says that Republicans are "pretty monolithic party. They all behave the same. They all look the same. It's pretty much a white Christian party."

Strange comments, all. What a strange, foul man.

The Dem leadership has been all about talkin' smack lately. But as headlines highlight that the party has been having a lil' trouble in the old fundraising dept., here's a quick numbers check:

As of April 30, the RNC had raised $44.7 million this year. The DNC raised $20.9 million.

RNC Chairman Ken Mehlman has $30.1 million in cash to use expanding the GOP for the 2006 election. Dean has to do this with $7.4 million. And even before Dean’s latest round of stupid remarks, three top Democratic fundraisers had already quit.

A lot of talk out there on the court, fellas. The Anti-Bushocrats in the crowd, of course, eat this stuff up (Michael Moore asked for seconds.) But in this game you need to expand the party a little bit - something dumb comments, poor party leadership, and pussy-backtracking aren't going to help with.

I believe Pacino said it best in Any Given Sunday: "JUST WIN ONE!"
