Pimp My Grandma

I was unable to find any mention of this Six Flags Great Adventure Theme Park radio advertisement on Google. I'm surprised and actually questioning whether I really heard this ad run on Hot 97 yesterday or whether I imagined it.

The radio ad features some young Hip Hopper lamenting that his Grandma is so old she can barely stand up. She can't hardly see or nothing. She is straight up ancient, yo. A second kid chimes in: yo son, what you need to do is Pimp your Grandma.

You might be wondering how one would go about pimping their grandma. Well apparently by taking them to Six Flags Great Adventure.

I can only assume that this octogenarian, Uncle Junior from the Sopranos look-a-like

is somehow behind this campaign to Pimp the Grandmas in the tri-state area.

But on a serious note, if you can really talk seriously about this, has pop culture lost all sight of the meaning of the word pimp?

It certainly is a popular word.

We know that Snoop Dogg, and 50 Cent consider themselves pimps, in basically the true meaning of the word, which in case you forgot is:

Main Entry: pimp
Pronunciation: 'pimp
Function: noun
Etymology: origin unknown
: a man who solicits clients for a prostitute

We also know that now you can now pimp your ride with the help of MTV and Xhibit.

Language certainly changes quickly. Fer Shizzle. But, the meaning of the word pimp is not going to change so drastically that it can be used in the sentence:

"I am going to pimp my grandmother by taking her to Six Flags."

I will take the initiative on this one and somehow, someway prevent this from happening.
